THE SAME FOR EVERYONE

The process itself doesn't change by nationality.

Two visa types

D-2 if you've already been admitted to a degree programme, D-4 if you're starting with Korean-language study first.

A fixed four-stage process

University admission, enrollment, your visa application at the Korean embassy or consulate in your own country, then registering with immigration within 90 days of arrival.

HiKorea is the official source

Requirements can change — always confirm the current document list and any nationality-specific rules at HiKorea (☎ 1345) before you apply.

SPECIFIC TO YOUR COUNTRY

What's different if you're applying from Russia

Several Korean missions, split by region

Korea has an embassy in Moscow, a consulate general in St. Petersburg, a consulate in Vladivostok and a consular office in Irkutsk, and each serves applicants from set regions of Russia. Moscow takes documents by appointment only, with new slots reported to open on the 15th of each month, so book early. Check your embassy's current notice before you plan, as procedures change.

A TB certificate is required

Russia is on Korea's list of 35 tuberculosis high-risk countries (Ministry of Justice visa manual), so a stay of more than 90 days requires a TB certificate from a hospital designated by the Korean mission. Ask your embassy or consulate which hospitals are designated in your city.

Diplomas need an apostille, not full legalization

Russia has been a party to the Hague Apostille Convention since 1992, and Korea accepts either an apostille or a consular confirmation on education certificates. In Russia, education documents are apostilled by Rosobrnadzor, which you can request through Gosuslugi (state fee reported as 2,500 rubles). The apostille links the diploma and its supplement, so get both apostilled, then confirm with your target university what else it needs.

How much money you need to show

The Ministry of Justice sets no fixed amount: you must show one year of tuition plus living costs (six months for a D-4 language course), and your university states the figure in its admission guide. A large deposit made right before applying can be questioned as borrowed money, so keep the balance settled in your account.

No verified Russian student community in Korea found — yet

We have not found a verified, active community of Russian students studying in Korea, and we don't list a group we can't confirm. Your university's international office can usually put you in touch with current Russian-speaking students. If you know of a group, tell us and we will check it.

This information is for reference only and rules change. Always confirm with HiKorea (☎ 1345) or your university's international office before you submit.
