The visa rules, the documents, and what's actually different for Myanmar applicants — in one place, in your language.
D-2 if you've already been admitted to a degree programme, D-4 if you're starting with Korean-language study first.
University admission, enrollment, your visa application at the Korean embassy or consulate in your own country, then registering with immigration within 90 days of arrival.
Requirements can change — always confirm the current document list and any nationality-specific rules at HiKorea (☎ 1345) before you apply.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Yangon is the Korean mission that handles visa applications for Myanmar, including D-2 (degree) and D-4 (language) study visas. Application procedures and any temporary changes are announced on the embassy's own website, so check its current notices before you book travel or pay for anything.
Myanmar has been on Korea's Ministry of Justice list of tuberculosis high-risk countries since the list was introduced, and the list now covers 35 countries. Applicants for a stay of more than 90 days must submit a TB certificate from a hospital designated by the Korean embassy. Confirm the current designated hospitals with the embassy before you go for the test.
Myanmar is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so an apostille stamp is not available for Myanmar documents. Documents are instead authenticated in steps: typically the Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs first, then confirmation by the Korean embassy. Ask your target university exactly which documents and which steps it requires before you start, because the process can take time.
The Ministry of Justice sets no fixed amount: you must show one year of tuition plus living costs (six months for a D-4 language course), and your university states the figure in its admission guide. A large deposit made right before applying can be questioned as borrowed money, so keep the balance settled in your account.
We couldn't confirm an active, verifiable Myanmar student association in Korea that is open to new students. If you know of one, let us know and we'll add it here. In the meantime, your university's international student office is usually the fastest way to meet other Myanmar students on campus.
