Study in Korea from Pakistan

The Korean Embassy in Islamabad covers all of Pakistan except Sindh province, which has its own Korean consular office in Karachi. Unlike some neighboring countries, there's no separate visa application center — applications, including D-2/D-4 study visas, are submitted in person at the embassy or the Karachi office.

The Korean embassy's own notice confirms Pakistan is on Korea's tuberculosis high-risk country list: any visa for a stay of 91 days or longer — including the D-2 study visa — requires a tuberculosis medical certificate from a designated clinic. Pakistan and Korea have run an EPS labor agreement since 2006, sending Pakistani workers to Korean manufacturing jobs under a separate E-9 visa — a completely different track from student visas. If you're searching for "Korea visa from Pakistan," make sure what you find is actually about D-2/D-4 study visas, not E-9 work visas.

Pakistan has been a party to the Hague Apostille Convention since 2023 (it passed its own Apostille Act in 2024 to implement it), so diplomas and transcripts can be authenticated with a single apostille. That doesn't replace HEC (Higher Education Commission) attestation of your academic documents — the apostille comes after HEC attestation, not instead of it.

The Embassy of Korea in Islamabad states a minimum processing time of 8 weeks after it receives your application — noticeably longer than the '10 days' some visa-consultant sites quote, which appears to describe other visa types, not student visas. Apply as early as you can.

The embassy's checklist accepts more than one way to demonstrate financial capacity: your own bank statements (typically the last 6 months, with the balance held for at least a month), a parent or sponsor's Financial Affidavit with proof of the relationship, or a scholarship certificate if you have one.
