STUDY IN KOREA

Study in Korea from Indonesia

The visa rules, the documents, and what's actually different for Indonesian applicants — in one place, in your language.

THE SAME FOR EVERYONE

The process itself doesn't change by nationality.

Two visa types

D-2 if you've already been admitted to a degree programme, D-4 if you're starting with Korean-language study first.

A fixed four-stage process

University admission, enrollment, your visa application at the Korean embassy or consulate in your own country, then registering with immigration within 90 days of arrival.

Requirements can change — always confirm the current document list and any nationality-specific rules at HiKorea (☎ 1345) before you apply.

What's different if you're applying from Indonesia

Ordinary visa applications go through Jakarta's application center, not a walk-in at the embassy

The Korean Embassy in Jakarta only handles diplomatic and official visas directly — ordinary visa applications, including student visas, go through the Korea Visa Application Center (KVAC) at Lotte Shopping Avenue, South Jakarta. There's also an official Korean branch office in Denpasar, Bali, opened in 2021.

Confirm the TB test requirement

The Korean embassy's own notice confirms Indonesia is on Korea's tuberculosis high-risk country list: any visa for a stay of 91 days or longer — including the D-2 study visa — requires a tuberculosis medical certificate from a designated clinic. This requirement has been updated over time (most recently in 2022), so confirm the current designated-clinic list directly at HiKorea before you apply.

A study visa (D-2/D-4) is not the same as a work visa (E-9)

Indonesia is one of the countries that sends workers to Korea under the EPS labor programme (E-9 visa) — a completely separate track from student visas. If you're searching for "Korea visa from Indonesia," make sure what you find is actually about D-2/D-4 study visas, not E-9 work visas.
