D-2 Visa Documents: The Complete Checklist
Every document you need, in the order you'll actually need it -- from your university application through your alien registration card.
SHORT ANSWER
You need 20 documents across 4 stages.
Eight for your university application, four to enroll once you're accepted, four for the visa itself, and four after you arrive in Korea. The order matters -- most delays happen when students try to skip ahead.
STAGE 1
Application Form
Personal Statement
High School Diploma
If it was issued outside Korea, it needs an apostille or consular confirmation.
High School Transcript
Passport Copy
Parents' Passport Copies
Both parents must be foreign nationals for you to be eligible.
Proof of Family Relationship
Any one of: a birth certificate, a certificate of family relations, or a family register extract.
Language Test Score (TOPIK / TOEFL / IELTS)
Whether this is required depends on the major you apply for.
STAGE 2
Final Diploma
Proof of Financial Capacity (bank balance certificate)
Only a balance held for 3 months or longer counts â money deposited just before you apply will not be accepted.
Tuition Payment Receipt
Standard Certificate of Admission
STAGE 3
Visa Application Form + Photo
Tuberculosis Test Certificate
Only if you are a national of a country designated as high-risk for tuberculosis.
Criminal Record Certificate
Required for nationals of certain countries only.
Proof of Financial Capacity (checked again)
STAGE 4
Alien Registration Application
Certificate of Enrollment
Proof of Residence
A lease agreement or a dormitory confirmation letter.
Tuberculosis Test Certificate
For nationals of tuberculosis high-risk countries staying 6 months or longer.
